FORMER DEEP CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL FACES CHILD SEX-ABUSE CHARGES

  Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office A former Deep Creek Elementary School principal faces multiple charges of child sex abuse involving four former students. Jeffrey Hays  was the principal at Deep Creek Elementary from 2005-2009 in the Gresham-Barlow School District. Hays left Deep Creek Elementary in 2009 and became Executive Director at the City View Charter School in Hillsboro. He is now retired. A Clackamas County Grand Jury returned an indictment of Hays on Monday, March 8, 2021. The Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF) arrested Hays at his north-Portland residence on Thursday, March 11, 2021.   Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 11:38 am, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety received multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance at 1414 Parkdale Dr in which a female was thrown to the ground and assaulted by a male subject. Additionally, the male was reported to be trying to gouge out the female's eyeballs.  When officers arrived on scene, the disturbance appeared to be over and the male suspect, identified as Anthony Paris Alberts, was standing outside. Officers quickly determined they had probable cause that an assault had occurred and told Alberts he was under arrest. Alberts responded by locking himself inside the residence and refusing to come out.  Upon further investigation, officers learned that Alberts had attacked the victim, who was a friend of his mother's, in the driveway.  Alberts picked up the 63-year-old woman and slammed her into the ground before striking her and trying to gouge her eyes out with his fingers, all w

FATAL CRASH IN IDLEYLD PARK THURSDAY MORNING

Sheriff's Office IDLEYLD PARK, Ore.  - A 30 year-old Glide woman died in a single vehicle crash on Rock Creek Road Thursday morning.  On March 11, 2021, at 2:00 am, 911 dispatchers received a report of a single vehicle crash in the 300-block of Rock Creek Road. When deputies arrived, they located a 2004 Toyota Tacoma approximately 40 feet off of the roadway and on its side.  The driver, 30 year-old Kandra Lace Stonesifer of Glide, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger, 32 year-old Lora Jo Stonesifer also of Glide, sustained significant injuries and was transported to the hospital. She was later treated and released at Mercy Medical Center.  Kandra was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Lora was properly restrained in the vehicle. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. MAJOR CRIMES ACTIVATED TO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN REEDSPORT

UPDATE: REEDSPORT, Ore. - The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is continuing its investigation into the officer involved shooting incident which took place on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 in Reedsport. The suspect in the incident has been identified as 30-year-old David Robert Ruozi Jr. Ruozi had been identified by Springfield Police Department as the suspect in the homicide of Richard Marshall. Over the course of several days leading up to the traffic stop and subsequent officer involved shooting, Springfield Police Detectives had been in several coastal towns searching for Ruozi. On March 9, 2021, at approximately 5:43 p.m. law enforcement conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the traffic stop, Ruozi became hostile and it became apparent he was armed. Negotiators attempted to de-escalate the situation for several hours without success. At 10:44 p.m., shots were fired at the scene. OREGON STATE POLICE IS REQUESTING PUBLIC'S ASSISTANCE WITH FATAL CRASH ON INTERSTATE 5 - MARION COUNTY

  Oregon State Police UPDATE-Motorcycle operator - Meagan Brumley 30 of Keizer. On Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at approximately 6:50 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near MP 270.   Preliminary investigation revealed that a black SUV and a motorcycle were northbound on Interstate 5.  The SUV made contact with the motorcycle and the motorcycle went off the road and into the center cable divider.  The SUV did not stop and continued northbound on Interstate 5.  The operator of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Name will be released at a later time. Oregon State Police is looking for any additional information on the black SUV.  There should be damage on the front driver's side on the SUV. Springfield Police Department Springfield Police Department is no longer seeking a suspect for the homicide of Richard Marshall that occurred at 705 Flamingo Avenue. The investigation of this incident led SPD Detectives to several coastal towns over the last few days, with the suspect being located in Reedsport yesterday. That incident involved several agencies including Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Reedsport Police and Coos Bay Police. SPD would like to thank the public and the assisting agencies for their cooperation.  Further information will come from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Springfield Police Department. Sheriff's Office UPDATE 03/09/2021 11:45 PM REEDSPORT, Ore.  - Negotiators with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Crisis Negotiations Team had been negotiating with the armed suspect in the vehicle attempting to de-escalate the situation for several hours. At 10:44 p.m., shots were fired at the scene. The suspect, whose name is being withheld at this time, was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel.  The Douglas County Major Crimes Team has been activated and will take over the investigation. No further information is expected to be released tonight .

REEDSPORT: DEPUTIES NEGOTIATING WITH SUBJECT, PUBLIC ASKED TO AVOID THE AREA

  Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office REEDSPORT, Ore.  - Deputies are on scene with multiple law enforcement agencies in the area of Highway 101 and Winchester Ave in Reedsport. The Sheriff's Office is asking members of the public and media to avoid the area for safety of the public and law enforcement. On March 9, 2021, at approximately 5:43 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the traffic stop, one individual was detained. Another individual in the vehicle became hostile. Deputies are actively attempting to negotiate with the individual at this time. Highway 101 near the incident is closed to through traffic until further notice.  No further information is available at this time. Further details will be released in an updated release.

MULTNOMAH COUNTY DA FILES CHARGES IN 'PIPE BOMB' INVESTIGATION

  Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office PORTLAND, Ore. – Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced that 24-year-old Jake Swingle is charged with numerous felonies for allegedly placing a pipe bomb in the rear of an occupied recreational vehicle (RV). Swingle is charged with one count of arson in the first degree, one count of unlawful manufacture of a destructive device, one count of unlawful possession of a destructive device, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. This investigation started on March 06, 2021 when emergency dispatchers received information about an explosion in the 3800 block of Northeast 141st Drive in Portland. Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and found smoke coming from the RV. Firefighters forced entry to check for any victims and to extinguish any fire. Law enforcement observed a storage compartment located in the rear outer quarter panel of the RV that appeared to be blown apart by a possible explosive device. T

NEBRASKA MAN DIES IN TRAFFIC CRASH SATURDAY NIGHT

Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - A 53-year-old Bellevue, Nebraska man died in a roll-over vehicle crash on Saturday night west of Roseburg.  At 7:50 pm, on Saturday, March 6, 2021, dispatchers began receiving reports of a single vehicle rollover crash on Garden Valley Road near Melrose Road. Bystanders began life saving efforts until emergency services arrived on scene.  Deputies located a 1998 green Ford F-150 pickup which had rolled several times. Witnesses reported the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed while attempting to make a sharp correction before losing control.  The driver, later identified as 53-year-old Dennis M. Dandridge of Bellevue, Nebraska, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Dandridge was the only occupant in the vehicle.  Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors to the crash. Next of kin has been notified. SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE ON OAK SHORE LANE; TIPS SOUGHT

Sheriff's Office At 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, Clackamas County Sheriff ’ s Office deputies responded to a report of a deceased adult male at a single-family residence on the 1700 block of Oak Shore Lane. Deputies arrived at the residence. The deceased -- identified as  Jimmy Alan Pearson , 63, of Milwaukie -- had lived alone at the house. One of the man's employees found the body when the employee went to the residence to check on Pearson after he hadn't been seen at work. Deputies investigated and found the death scene to be suspicious. A Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner and Sheriff ’ s Office  detectives  responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Crime Scene Investigators (CSI)  also responded to document the scene and collect evidence. CALIFORNIA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DISTRIBUTION OF METHAMPHETAMINE

  U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A Coachella, California man pleaded guilty today to transporting five pounds of methamphetamine from Coachella to Aumsville, Oregon, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Scott Erik Asphaug. Gerardo Figueroa-Felix, 36, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of methamphetamine. According to court documents, on January 7, 2019, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call that squatters had returned to a foreclosed property in Aumsville and that there was methamphetamine inside the house. Deputies had locked the property four days prior in response to a court order. Two deputies approached the house together and spotted a white Chevrolet pickup truck with a California license plate backed into the driveway. As they approached, the deputies saw Figueroa-Felix tying up a tarp near the back of the vehicle. One of the deputies approached Figueroa-Felix and asked why he was on the property.   Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 03-07-2021, RADE detectives with the assistance of Grants Pass Department of Public Safety K9 Match and Oregon State Police Troopers, stopped a gray Volkswagen SUV on I-5 near milepost 86. Detectives had been conducting surveillance and investigating the driver, Jonathon James Lawson and passenger, Jesus Rubio, for narcotics trafficking. Detectives developed probable cause to stop Lawson, Rubio and the vehicle and after K9 Match alerted on the vehicle, Lawson and Rubio were detained. Located during the search was over 11 pounds of methamphetamine, over 10,000 suspected Fentanyl laced Oxycodone pills (M30's), 2 firearms, 2 bullet proof vests (body armor), scales, packaging material, and cash. Both Lawson and Rubio are convicted felons and they were taken into custody and lodged a the Josephine County Jail for Delivery/Possession of methamphetamine and Oxycodone. FATAL SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH

  Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On March 6, 2021, at approximately 1:25 AM, 911 dispatchers received a call of a single motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle under a semi-trailer in the 2200 block of NE Industry Drive.  Police Officers and Firefighters from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, along with AMR personnel and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the location.   Upon arrival, the crashed vehicle was located under the front of the parked semi-trailer and the single occupant driver, a 58 year old male resident of Grants Pass, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The investigation is ongoing and all names are being withheld until next of kin have been notified. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to call the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety’s Detective Division at 541-450-6260. 

FISHERMAN DIES AFTER FALLING OVERBOARD IN WILLAMETTE RIVER

Sheriff's Office On Saturday, March 6, 2021, at approximately 6:19 p.m., the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man and a dog who had fallen overboard from a small fishing boat in the Swan Island Lagoon, an inlet of the Willamette River. Marine deputies responded, as did Portland Fire & Rescue, who dispatched several land units and a rescue boat to aid in the search. At approximately 6:45 p.m., the missing man was located. He was pronounced deceased on scene. The dog was located on shore and taken to an animal hospital for evaluation. The man's identity is being withheld until next of kin notifications are made.
