Officer involved Shooting Investigation -- Oakridge (Lane County)

Oregon State Police  On Thursday October 17, 2019 at about 7:39pm, Oregon State Police and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency request for assistance from an officer with the Oakridge Police Department who responded to a domestic disturbance.  The Oakridge officer reported shots were fired and was requesting emergency assistance.  Troopers and Deputies arrived on scene and preliminary investigation revealed the suspect in the domestic disturbance was deceased after being shot by the officer.  The officer was not injured.  The Lane County Inter-Agency Deadly Force Investigation Team (IDFIT) was activated and detectives with the Oregon State Police, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Eugene Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Cottage Grove Police Department, and the Florence Police Department responded to conduct the investigation.  Additional assistance was provided at the scene by Oakridge Fire, Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Lane C

Numerous Arrests during Armed Robbery Investigation

Medford Police Dept. Since the October 11th, 2019, robbery, Medford Police Detectives have been actively investigating the case. The investigation has revealed the following: On October 11th, 2019, shortly after 8:00 a.m., the 28 year old female victim, and her 25 year old boyfriend reported they had been robbed at gunpoint in their motel room at the Econolodge, 1015 S. Riverside Avenue. The three suspects, one of them armed with a gun, entered the motel room, pistol whipped the 25 year old boyfriend, stole property, and jumped into a 2008 VW SUV in the parking lot. The victim couple attempted to block them in with their vehicle, but the suspect vehicle rammed them, before fleeing the parking lot. The victim couple chased them in their 1998 white Mercedes sedan. During the car chase, the victims crashed and became disabled near E. Main Street and Eastwood Avenue. As previously mentioned in the press release, witnesses attempted to follow the suspects but lost it.  The victims

FACEBOOK POST SOLVES ABANDONED BOAT CASE

Sheriff's Office DRAIN, Ore.  - Within hours of posting about an abandoned boat found dumped on public lands managed by the BLM, deputies received a tip which lead to solving the case.  Deputies initially learned about the boat, a 1979 24' Reinell cabin cruiser named Red Rover II, on October 5th and began an investigation. The boat had not been registered with the Oregon State Marine Board since 2008.  On Tuesday, October 15th, a photograph of the boat and a request for assistance from the public was posted the Sheriff's Office Facebook and Instagram pages. The Sheriff's Office later received information which led them to contact 38 year-old Ryan W. Powers of Reedsport and 46 year-old Michael L. Saben of Winston. Powers and Saben admitted to finding the boat abandoned on Paradise Creek and moving the boat to the location where it was found. Sheriff's Office GLENDALE, Ore.  - On Wednesday, October 16, 2019, Douglas County Sheriff's Office Detectives contacted 39 year-old Glendale resident, Paul Allan Wertz regarding a sex crime investigation.  Detectives had been investigating a report that Wertz was in possession of pornographic images of a minor child on his cell phone. During the course of their investigation, Detectives confirmed that Wertz had taken nude photos of a five year-old female who was known to him.  Wertz was taken into custody and lodged at the Douglas County Jail on a charge of Possession of Materials Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct of a Child in the First Degree.    

RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE - 1748 NW OTIE STREET - 10-16-19

Roseburg Fire Department At 12:27 a.m. on October 16, 2019, Roseburg Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1748 NW Otie Street.  Residents reported the fire after being awakened by a working smoke alarm.  Residents had exited the residential structure and notified nearby neighbors of possible exposure. Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire venting from a south window and causing exposure to the south, neighboring residential home.  Pressurized black smoke was also seen emitting from the attic vents. Firefighters made an interior attack to extinguish the fire, conducted a primary and secondary search, and completed overhaul.   The primary home sustained structural and water damage.  The neighboring home suffered damage to the exterior siding.  One adult, two teenage children, and a dog were displaced due to the fire; however, no one was injured in the fire.  Unfortunately, two pet hamsters did not survive the fire. Serious Injury Commercial Motor Vehicle Crash I-5 near Woodburn-- Marion County

Oregon State Police  Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Tuesday afternoon’s crash involving two Commercial Motor Vehicles on I-5 near Woodburn.  On Tuesday October 15, 2019 at about 3:57 PM, OSP troopers and emergency personnel responded to a serious injury crash involving two Commercial Motor Vehicles on I-5 southbound at about milepost 273.    Preliminary investigation revealed that a Volvo Truck and Semi-trailer, operated by Gagandeep SINGH, age 24, from California, was southbound on I-5 and pulled to the shoulder due to smoke coming from under the truck.  Gagandeep SINGH and his passenger, Baljit SINGH, age 38, from California, exited the truck and discovered that it was on fire.  A Freightliner Truck and Semi-trailer, operated by Rex HOLLOPETER, age 51, from Salem, was southbound in the far right lane when it sideswiped the Volvo Truck and Semi-Trailer.  The Freightliner Truck and Semi-trailer caught fire and came to rest blocking all southb

SAR Locates Missing Woman Alive

Sheriff's Office BUTTE FALLS, Ore. – Search officials are thankful and relieved after finding a missing 80-year-old woman with dementia.   Geraldine “Gerry” Hendricks survived three nights in the elements without apparent injury.  “It is always a good feeling to be able to give family members good news in a case like this,” said Jackson County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Shawn Richards.  “She was cold and a little dehydrated, but she appears to be in amazingly good shape.” At 11:45 a.m. on October 15, 2019, JCSO search and rescue (SAR) personnel spotted Hendricks.  The ATV search team was driving on a forest road approximately two miles from Hendricks’ home when they found her walking on the road.   Mercy Flights medics took Hendricks by ambulance to a waiting helicopter.  She was then transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Sheriff's Office SUTHERLIN, Ore.  - On Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at 7:45 am, Douglas County 9-1-1 Dispatchers received a report of a vehicle that was in the ditch in the 200-block of Fort McKay Road in Sutherlin.  Dispatchers were told by the reporting party that the female associated with the car was shooting out of the window of the car. Law enforcement from the Sheriff’s Office, Sutherlin Police Department and Oregon State Police were dispatched to the scene. When Officers from Sutherlin Police Department arrived, the female driver was briefly detained. It was quickly determined the female had not fired any shots and the sound the caller was hearing were vineyard cannons intended to keep birds away from the vineyard. No actual shots had been fired. The female driver had turned too soon and accidentally missed the driveway and was not injured. No citations or arrests were made.

DUII Suspected in Rollover Crash

Sheriff's Office CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – A local mother was arrested Sunday after a crash that sent her two children to the hospital.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies suspect alcohol impairment contributed to the crash.  On October 13, 2019, at 1:55 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting a rollover crash in the 2200-block of Kirtland Road, near the intersection with High Banks Road.  The caller reported one person had been ejected from the white 2008 Toyota Tercel during the crash.  Deputies responded to the scene, along with personnel from Oregon State Police, Fire District 3, and Mercy Flights.  Deputies say the driver, Amanda Leigh Knutson, 31, of Gold Hill, and her two sons, ages 6 and 10, were the occupants of the vehicle.  The six-year-old was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.  All occupants were transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center with injuries.  At the time of this release, the injuries are not believed to

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office UPDATE, 10/14/19 at 5:50 p.m.: JCSO SAR staff and volunteers continue to search for Geraldine “Gerry” Hendricks Monday evening. SAR teams are using ground and air resources in the search.  In a press conference earlier Monday, Sgt. Shawn Richards described the extensive search effort that has been underway since Hendricks was reported missing on Saturday.  He said many resources are being utilized to search for Hendricks. He expressed optimism that the search will have a positive outcome. Detectives are assisting with interviewing witnesses and will follow any leads that come in. Sheriff Nathan Sickler thanked the local community as well as the numerous agencies and personnel who have supported the search. Injured Hiker Rescued After Long Fall at Smith Rock State Park

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On October 11, 2019 shortly before 3:30 pm, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a welfare check at Smith Rock State Park regarding someone yelling.  A Special Services/Search and Rescue Deputy was sent to the scene.  While responding, more information was provided that aided narrowing down the subject's location and that the subject was possibly injured. The subject was later identified as 23 year old, Ian Rapp. At approximately 3:55 pm, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (SAR) was activated to the scene.  Ultimately, 22 Search and Rescue Volunteers and 2 SAR Deputies responded to the scene along with three personnel from Redmond Fire and Rescue and Oregon State Parks. Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 10/12/19, at about 0635 hours, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) 911 Dispatch received a report of an assault in front of the 7/11 store, located at 790 SW 6th Street. It was mentioned a (36 year-old) female had been punched by a male and a cell phone was stolen. As GPDPS police units were responding, dispatch advised the male suspect had brandished a knife and made threats to stab the female after chasing her. The male suspect fled the area on foot in an eastbound direction. Police units arrived and set a perimeter in the last known area for the fleeing male suspect. He was quickly located and ran from officers to the area of SE 8th and SE M Streets. He was placed in custody without incident after being challenged by police officers. Sheriff's Office BUTTE FALLS, Ore. — Reinforcements have arrived from regional search and rescue (SAR) organizations to assist in the search for a missing woman with dementia. Geraldine “Gerry” Hendricks, 80, was reported missing from her home on Saturday evening.  On October 12, 2019, at 6:44 p.m., dispatch received a call from Hendricks’ family in the 4400-block of Obenchain Road. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies and search and rescue personnel responded to initiate the search. SAR personnel, including canine teams, searched through the night, but were hampered by darkness and terrain.  Additional resources were deployed at daylight Sunday, ramping up the search effort. Hendricks is described as 5’2”, 100 lbs., with short dark gray hair. Pair of Car Thieves Lock Themselves Out of Stolen Car, Get Caught

Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at approximately 12:42 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a suspicious circumstances call in the parking lot of the QFC grocery store located at 7525 SW Barnes Road.  A caller to 9-1-1 reported seeing two men climbing on top of a black Toyota Corolla with a crowbar and wooden plank trying to open the door. Deputies contacted the two men identified as 29-year-old Omar Velazquez of Vancouver and 25-year-old Kenneth Hayden of Aloha.  The men claimed the car they were trying to break into belonged to another friend’s girlfriend and they had locked the keys inside. Further investigation revealed that the Toyota was stolen the day before from a Cold Stone Creamery on NW 185th Avenue in Hillsboro.  Two men, one who was later identified as Mr. Hayden, entered the ice cream shop and ordered ice cream cones, but didn’t have the money to pay.  The employee at the store later noticed her ke

Portland Police Bureau On Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 10:38 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to eastbound I-84 at the I-205 off ramp on the report of a pedestrian being struck by a car. Officers arrived on scene and found the pedestrian suffering from life threatening injuries. It appears the pedestrian's car had broken down earlier and was walking away from the disabled car. The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital and is currently in an ICU. The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Emmanuel Gonzalez-coria (Gonzalez-Coria), remained on scene and was ultimately arrested and lodged into the Multnomah County Detention Center on one count each of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and assault in the second degree. Residential Structure Fire - 1615 NW Utah Street - 10-7-19

Roseburg Fire Dept. At 7:49 p.m. on October 7, 2019, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported structure fire at 1615 NW Utah Street.   Upon arrival on scene, firefighters found a two story residential structure with smoke showing from the second story of the home.  All residents and the family service dog had exited the structure prior to firefighters arriving on scene.  Two adult residents, four children, and the family service dog were all displaced; however, no one was injured in the fire.  The American Red Cross is assisting the family that was displaced. When firefighters entered the home, they located and extinguished a fire in the attic of the structure.Firefighters checked the residence for any extension of fire, ventilated the residence, and completed overhaul.  A fire investigator was on scene and investigating the cause of the fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  The structure, which is valued at $200,000, suffered approximately $60,0

Armed Drug Dealer Arrested By GVRT in Lloyd District

Portland Police Bureau Officers in the Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT) working proactive patrol in the Lloyd District Neighborhood arrested a suspect with guns, large quantities of drugs, and cash. On Friday, October 4, 2019 at 6:30 p.m., GVRT officers were patrolling near Holladay Park when they conducted a traffic stop at Northeast 12th Avenue and Northeast Lloyd Boulevard. The officers discovered the driver, Noah J. Goldman, 37, of Portland, was in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested. A search of the vehicle, and later Goldman's residence, yielded meth, heroin, cash, and two guns. Male at Grocery Outlet Attempts to get into Vehicle with Children Inside-Redmond, OR

Redmond Police Dept. On October 6, 2019, at approximately 5:35 pm, officers with the Redmond Police Department responded to an altercation at Grocery Outlet in Redmond, Oregon.  A father with two children, had started his vehicle and seat belted his 4-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter in the rear seat.  While standing at the driver’s side of his vehicle he noticed a suspicious male, later identified as Redmond, Oregon, transient 34-year-old Jeremy Dubisar, near his vehicle watching what he was doing.  He asked the suspicious male if he needed something and he responded that he did not.  The alert father locked his vehicle and walked to the rear passenger door of his vehicle to check on his 3-year-old daughter.  While attempting to check on his daughter, Mr. Dubisar attempted to open the driver’s door of the vehicle.  By first locking the vehicle the father’s actions prevented Mr. Dubisar from entering and stealing his vehicle with his children inside.  After being confronted

Single Vehicle Fatal Crash on Hwy 99 - Jackson County

Oregon State Police  On Saturday, October 5, 2019 at approximately 5:47 A.M. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy 99 milepost 10.5 near Phoenix, OR. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2002 Mazda, operated by Dakota Arthur (23) of Medford, was northbound at a high rate of speed when it slid sideways into a power pole. Arthur sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. The passenger, Danielle Ramirez (24) of Medford, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. OSP was assisted by Phoenix Police Department, Talent Police Department, Medford Fire Department, and ODOT.

Bend Man Arrested For Uploading Child Pornography

Bend Police Dept. On September 9, 2019 the Bend Police Department received a tip from ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Task Force in Salem. The tip was in reference to an unknown individual in Bend that was uploading child pornography. Detectives with the Bend Police Department began an investigation and learned the location that the child pornography was being uploaded from and possible suspect information. On October 3, 2019 at 10:00 hours, officers and detectives with the Bend Police Department executed a search warrant at 664 NE Shirley Court in Bend where they contacted Joshua Zachary Campbell. Campbell was the lone occupant at the residence. Evidence was located and seized from the residence. Campbell was taken into custody and transported to the Deschutes County Jail where he was booked on the below listed charges. Ronald Bruce Jordan Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison in Child Sex Abuse Case

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On October 2, 2019, Judge Danielle Hunsaker sentenced Ronald Bruce Jordan to ten years in prison (120 months). Mr. Jordan previously pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sex abuse in a case prosecuted by Senior Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown. Forest Grove Police Detective Darren Pomeroy began investigating Mr. Jordan in February of 2019 after the teenage victim made a disclosure of abuse. She reported that Mr. Jordan began sexually abusing her when she was a young child and that the abuse continued for many years in multiple jurisdictions including areas of Washington County. Mr. Jordan was known to the victim. The victim eventually confronted Mr. Jordan. He admitted to treating her inappropriately and said he was ashamed and sorry for the way he acted. Gresham Police arrested Mr. Jordan in April of 2019. He admitted to inappropriate touching and told investigators that he allowed improprieties to take p

PEDESTRIAN INJURED DURING VEHICLE COLLISION

Roseburg Police Dept. On Thursday morning just after 0230 hours, Roseburg Police Officers responded to the report of a male lying in the roadway in the 1300 block of NE Stephens.  18 year old Roseburg resident, Isaiah Freeman was found with numerous injuries, which were determined to be caused when he was struck by a passing vehicle.  Freeman was transported to Mercy via ambulance where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  Freeman is expected to make a full recovery. A person of interest was identified in this incident and they were later contacted by Officers.  During the investigation a vehicle was seized for proccessing for potential evidence from the accident.  The investigation is ongoing.

Sisters Man Arrested After Hemp Farm Theft

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On October 1st, 2019, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a theft of industrial hemp from a farm in the 66000 block of Gist Rd, in an unincorporated area of Sisters, Oregon. The farmer reported finding a substantial amount of industrial hemp cut down and missing from his field. The cannabis crop comes in many different strains, or varietals. Many of those are bred into Marijuana and have high levels of THC, the psychoactive compound that causes impairment. Industrial hemp is not one of these; legally, industrial hemp is only permitted to have 0.3 percent THC at most. Although industrial hemp looks and smells like marijuana, the hemp plant is used for production of CDB oil and other industrial uses. DCSO Deputies conducted an investigation and identified 20 year old, Noah Gabriel Kirshner, of Sisters, Oregon, as the suspect in the crop theft. Large Takedown Targets Mexican Drug Trafficking Organization Operating in Oregon

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A coordinated, multi-agency law enforcement operation was conducted today to dismantle a vast international drug trafficking organization that conspired to distribute methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine manufactured in Mexico throughout the Portland Metropolitan Area, announced Billy J. Williams, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon. Federal search warrants were executed at 13 locations throughout the Portland area. Investigators seized 22 pounds of methamphetamine, four ounces of heroin, 11 ounces of cocaine and seven firearms and arrested 20 defendants. Roseburg Man Wanted by Law Enforcement Arrested

Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - A Roseburg man who ran from law enforcement officers this afternoon is wanted by Winston Police Department.  32 year-old Michael Andrew Cordz is wanted in connection to the burglary of his ex-girlfriend's residence. Cordz has been making threats toward the female and is believed to be armed.  On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at 10:55 am, deputies were called to a suspicious vehicle in the 5500-block of Roberts Creek Road. Deputies, along with officers from Winston Police Department, responded to the area and determined the vehicle belonged to Cordz. Cordz was in the vehicle and fled on foot from officers.  Deputies activated the reverse 9-1-1 system to notify area residents, who were asked to shelter in place and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.  Despite an extensive search of the area by multiple law enforcement officers, Cordz was unable to be found. Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 9/28/19 at about 1217 Hours, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) Dispatch Center, received multiple 911 calls of a neighbor purposely flooding her two-story apartment. The apartment complex is located at 1100 Fruitdale Drive, in Grants Pass. Two apartments, one on each side of the flooding apartment had water coming through the walls and floor. The suspect who was flooding her apartment was known as Jennifer Richardson (39 years old). The GPDPS already had probable cause to arrest Richardson from an incident a few days prior of criminal mischief to a neighbor's vehicle. Multiple GPDPS police units responded to the scene. Richardson has made threats to assault officers and the public. It was well known an aggressive pitbull was in the apartment with Richardson who has also made threats to have the pitbull attack others. With the water causing extensive damage and the fear of electricity, GPDPS Fire/Rescue responded and was a
