Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Friday, January 3rd, 2020,  a Grants Pass Department of Public Safety Police Officer responded to the All Sports Park to investigate a suspicious vehicle. The subsequent investigation revealed that 20yo Gabriel Rosencrans had engaged in sexual intercourse with a 16yo female inside the vehicle. Rosencrans was arrested on the above listed charges and lodged in the Josephine County Jail. ARRESTED:  Gabriel Rosencrans 20yo male,  CHARGES: Sex Abuse II (x2), Contributing to the Sexual Corruption of a minor, Public Indecency, and Sexual Misconduct.

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Tuesday January 7th, 2020, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety Detectives Unit received information from an unrelated investigation that Aystyn H. Boeggeman reportedly had sexual contact with a 15yo female. A subsequent investigation revealed that Boeggeman had been in a sexual relationship with a 15yo female, while he was 20 years old. On Wednesday, January 8th, 2020, Boeggeman was located at 4569 Dick George Road in Cave Junction and taken into custody. Boeggeman was arrested on the above mentioned charges and lodged at the Josephine County Jail. ARRESTED: Aystyn H. Boeggeman 21yo male CHARGES: Rape 3 (x12), Sodomy 3 (x11), Sex Abuse 2 (x8), Contributing to the Sexual Delinquency of a Minor (x23), and Sexual Misconduct (x23).

394th Basic Police Class to Graduate from Oregon Public Safety Academy

DNA Confirms Identity of Victim

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office   JCSO case number 16-24006 On Tuesday, November 12th, 2019, skeletal human remains were recovered in a wooded area just over the Douglas County border off Highway 227. The remains were believed to be those of Malina Lynn Nickel, reported missing 11/23/16. This discovery was made during a separate homicide investigation in which Destiny Finch was the victim. The remains were transported to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office and turned over to Dr. Nici Vance, State Forensic Anthropologist for further evaluation. The suspect in that case, Shane Ryan Michael Wayman, DOB 08/15/98, was indicted on charges of Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree and Abuse of a Corpse in the Second Degree, based on circumstantial evidence found at the scene which tentatively identified the remains as Malina’s. Hit and Run Injury Crash

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety is investigating an injury hit and run crash which occurred on Rogue River Hwy near Cloverlawn Drive on January 6, 2020, at approximately 5:45PM.  The crash involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian who received serious injuries.  The suspect vehicle fled the area eastbound on Rogue River Hwy.  The pedestrian was transported to an out of area hospital for treatment. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver colored 2 door, 90’s to 2000’s smaller sedan.  There may be damage to the front and/or hood of the vehicle from striking the pedestrian.  See attached photo. Fatal Crash On Riverside Drive

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports that on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, approximately 10:21 p.m., his deputies investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on Riverside Drive near Stellmacher Drive, southwest of Albany.    The investigation revealed Joel Hirsch, 61, of Albany, had been traveling north on Riverside Drive in his 2007 Nissan Murano.  For unknown reasons, he crossed out of his lane, through the opposing lane of travel, off the west side shoulder, struck a tree head-on and spun back up on the roadway.  Hirsch was the single occupant of the vehicle. Hirsch was wearing a seatbelt and the vehicle airbags did deploy.  Albany Fire Department personnel assisted with extricating Hirsch from his vehicle. Criminal charges filed against driver accused of killing an 11 year old boy walking to school in Gresham, Oregon

District Attorney's Office   January 7, 2020 Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced the filing of a four-count charging document against 26-year-old Garrett Bergquist who is accused of running a red light and crashing into an 11 year old boy who was walking to school. The boy, identified as Luis Medina, died as a result of the crash. Bergquist is charged with one count of manslaughter in the first degree, one count of manslaughter in the second degree, one count of driving under the influence of intoxicants and one count of reckless driving. This investigation started on January 6, 2019 when Gresham Police and the East County Vehicular Crimes Team responded to reports of a crash near the intersection of Southeast Hogan Road and Southeast 5th Avenue in Gresham, Oregon. Douglas Public Health Network   [DOUGLAS COUNTY, OREGON]- The Douglas Public Health Network is issuing an ALERT for fatal and non-fatal illicit opioid overdoses in Douglas County. This alert is being issued based on a sharp spike of overdoses occurring within the last 24-72 hours.  We have seen these spikes occur in hospital emergency department admissions, and law enforcement and emergency support services response and deployment of Narcan. It appears the current “heroin” in our community is particularly potent or may be adulterated with fentanyl, and is an immediate risk to those actively using illicit opioids. Also be aware that other drugs, such as methamphetamine may be adulterated with fentanyl. We are encouraging people who use illicit opioids, such as heroin, to abstain from using the drug and seek assistance through drug treatment or medication-assisted treatment. Two Portland Residents Indicted for Illegally Possessing Same Stolen Handgun

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon Defendants memorialized illegal firearm possession in music video posted to YouTube PORTLAND, Ore.—U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams announced today that two Portland residents have been charged with unlawfully possessing the same stolen handgun. Christopher Eugene Miller, 28, and Kebrin Larry Jones, 27, are charged in a two-count indictment with unlawfully possessing a stolen Taurus model PT-845, .45 caliber handgun. Miller and Jones join Desmond Boris Washington, 34, also of Portland, who was previously charged in a separate criminal case for unlawfully possessing the same handgun. All three defendants are convicted felons and not permitted to possess firearms. Agents recovered the stolen firearm while executing a search warrant on Washington’s Portland residence. Residential Structure Fire - 166 SE Hoover Avenue - 1-7-20

Roseburg Fire Department At 8:55 a.m. on January 7, 2020, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported structure fire at 166 SE Hoover Avenue.   Upon arrival on scene, firefighters found a single story residential structure with smoke showing from the eaves of the home.  Firefighters conducted a primary search for a possible rescue when determining there were no occupants inside the structure at the time of the fire.  Firefighters made an interior attack to extinguish the fire and completed overhaul.  The home sustained structural and water damage.  The displaced family included two adult residents and five children; however, no one was injured in the fire.  The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family. A fire investigator was on scene and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and most likely electrical in nature.  Ten firefighters assisted with firefighting operations.  Other agencies assisting with the fire included Umpqua Valley Ambula

New Years Eve Shooting Arrests

Gresham Police Dept   Gresham, Ore. - Gresham Police make two arrests in regards to New Years Eve homicide. On Dec. 31 at approximately 8:15 p.m., police responded to the 18800 block of NE Irving Ct. There they found 23-year-old Joshua Cermack deceased at the scene, and 19-year-old Christian Stai with life threatening injuries. Last night the East Metro SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the 18500 block of NE Everett St. They arrested 18-year-old Zion Evans and 18-year-old Jacob Cadle. Both are being charged with murder in the 1st degree and robbery in the 1st degree. The shooting is believed to be drug related. No further information is being released at this time. Detectives Investigating Sexual Abuse Concerns at Catlin Gabel School

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office In November 2018, detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were asked to investigate allegations of child sexual abuse involving a specific former faculty member at Catlin Gabel School. Detectives learned that the suspect had died earlier that year and concluded the investigation. At the time, investigators were not aware of allegations involving any other staff members. After the employee’s death, comments on social media raised other concerns of sexual abuse perpetrated by former Catlin Gabel employees. Catlin Gabel retained an outside investigator, whose work resulted in the identification of 21 staff members alleged to have engaged in questionable conduct with children over the past 60 years. Child Dies in Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— On Jan. 6th around 8:30 a.m., Gresham police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car on SE Hogan Rd. and SE 5th St.  The pedestrian was deceased at the scene.  The pedestrian is an 11-year-old male who was on his way to school. Next of kin have been notified and at this time the juvenile’s name will not be released.  The driver is identified as 26-year-old Garrett Bergquist of Gresham.  He cooperated with the investigation.  The investigation showed the pedestrian had the right of way and the driver ran the red light.  There was indication of impairment and the driver has been arrested. Buyer and Seller Both Arrested after Gun Displayed During Offer Up Deal

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 5:05 p.m., deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a reported armed robbery in a parking lot near the Nike Company Store. Deputies arrived less than a minute later and found both parties still on scene in the 3400 block of SW Knowlton Road, near Beaverton. The investigation revealed that two parties connected previously on the online sales app Offer Up. One party agreed to sell the other multiple passes to the Nike Company Store. The buyer sent the seller money, but never received the promised passes. Today, the buyer used a different online profile and set up an in-person meeting with the same seller. When the seller arrived, the would-be buyer produced a handgun to scare the seller into providing the passes for which he had previously paid. Gun Team Officers Seize Firearms Overnight

Portland Police Bureau While on proactive patrol, officers with the Gun Violence Reduction Team (GVRT) conducted two separate traffic stops in less than 20 minutes that yielded illegally possessed firearms. On January 5, 2020 at 12:40 a.m., officers stopped a car near Northeast 162nd Avenue and East Burnside Street. They arrested the driver on a drug charge from a previous incident. During the encounter, officers saw a passenger in the vehicle with a handgun under his leg. Officers safely took the passenger into custody and seized the gun, a .40 caliber semi-automatic (photo). Lathaniel J. Patterson, 21 (photo), was charged with Possession of a Loaded Firearm in a Public Place (city code), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Cocaine. The driver, Antonio L. Structure Fire

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety   At 5:49 am on January 5, Grants Pass Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 515 SW Western Ave.  The fire was on the front porch of the house and was called in by neighbors who saw the flames. The home owner began putting water from a garden hose on the fire that was inside the covered front porch.  Fire crews arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. The interior of the house was searched and found that there was smoke in the house but the fire had not extended into the house. Fire crews used a positive pressure fan to clear out the smoke. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Anyone with information about the fire is encouraged to call the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety at 541-450-6200.  Grants Pass fire rescue was assisted by Rural Metro Fire Department, American Medical Response Ambulance and the Grants Pass Police.

Injury Motor Vehicle Crash

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On 01/05/2020 at approximately 1438 hours, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and the Redmond Fire Department were dispatched to an injury motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Northwest Way and Coyner Avenue.  Dispatch advised both vehicles had sustained major damage, both drivers were injured, and the female driver was trapped in her vehicle. The Redmond Fire Department cut the driver’s side door from the Mazda, and Klingensmith was safely removed from the Mazda.  Smith and Klingensmith were transported to St. Charles Redmond by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.  A minor child in the vehicle with Klingensmith was not injured. The investigation revealed Klingensmith was south bound on Northwest Way and Smith was north bound on Northwest Way.  Smith attempted to turn west bound on to Coyner Avenue and struck Klingensmith’s vehicle on the driver’s side.  The crash blocked the intersection for approximately one hour u

Washington County's 'WIN' Team Removes More Than $90,000 Worth of Drugs from the Streets

Sheriff's Office On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office  Westside Interagency Narcotics  (WIN) investigators executed a search warrant at 2944 NE Moda Way in Hillsboro and a second search warrant at 1218 SE Alder Street in Hillsboro. Both search warrants were the result of a single investigation. Investigators located and seized 15.1 pounds of methamphetamine, 0.5 pound of heroin, 2.86 ounces of cocaine, and 0.39 ounces of crack cocaine, 173 counterfeit OxyContin pills, 100 counterfeit Xanax pills, and approximately $17,000 in cash. The estimated street value of drugs removed from distribution was over $90,000. Two suspects, 27-year-old Edgar Mandujano-Lopez and 28-year-old Ivan Cornejo-Marin, of Hillsboro, were arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine. Detectives Investigate Shooting in Central Point

Sheriff's Office CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – On Wednesday, January 1st, 2020, about 8:15 pm, Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (E.C.S.O.) received a 911 call reporting a possible assault involving a weapon and shots being fired in the 8000 Block of Blackwell Rd. The caller reported the suspect was threatening her boyfriend and then heard gunshots coming from a shop on the property. Deputies arrived on scene around 8:23 pm, and began efforts to secure the scene. They were able to contact a male individual, who was cooperative, and exited the structure. Deputies learned another male, who was later identified as Teddy James Maverick Varner, DOB 1/23/90, was inside the location, likely armed and hostile. As they continued to speak with the witness/victim, Varner exited the building with a handgun and approached the deputies in an aggressive manner, pointing the gun at them. Sheriff's Office Case 19-26128 Suspect Arrested in Child Sex Abuse Case On January 1, 2020, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a suspect on sex abuse charges related to a victim who was babysat by his wife at their home in White City, Oregon. The suspect is Marcial Palomares-Aguilar, 78 years old, of the 2700 block of Falcon St. White City, Oregon. He was lodged at Jackson County Jail on charges of Sex Abuse First Degree and Sex Abuse Third Degree. He was arrested at his home. Palomares-Aguilar is being held on $255,000 bail.
