UPDATE: MAJOR CRIMES ACTIVATED TO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN REEDSPORT

Sheriff's Office UPDATE 03/09/2021 11:45 PM REEDSPORT, Ore.  - Negotiators with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Crisis Negotiations Team had been negotiating with the armed suspect in the vehicle attempting to de-escalate the situation for several hours. At 10:44 p.m., shots were fired at the scene. The suspect, whose name is being withheld at this time, was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel.  The Douglas County Major Crimes Team has been activated and will take over the investigation. No further information is expected to be released tonight .

REEDSPORT: DEPUTIES NEGOTIATING WITH SUBJECT, PUBLIC ASKED TO AVOID THE AREA

  Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office REEDSPORT, Ore.  - Deputies are on scene with multiple law enforcement agencies in the area of Highway 101 and Winchester Ave in Reedsport. The Sheriff's Office is asking members of the public and media to avoid the area for safety of the public and law enforcement. On March 9, 2021, at approximately 5:43 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the traffic stop, one individual was detained. Another individual in the vehicle became hostile. Deputies are actively attempting to negotiate with the individual at this time. Highway 101 near the incident is closed to through traffic until further notice.  No further information is available at this time. Further details will be released in an updated release.

MULTNOMAH COUNTY DA FILES CHARGES IN 'PIPE BOMB' INVESTIGATION

  Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office PORTLAND, Ore. – Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced that 24-year-old Jake Swingle is charged with numerous felonies for allegedly placing a pipe bomb in the rear of an occupied recreational vehicle (RV). Swingle is charged with one count of arson in the first degree, one count of unlawful manufacture of a destructive device, one count of unlawful possession of a destructive device, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. This investigation started on March 06, 2021 when emergency dispatchers received information about an explosion in the 3800 block of Northeast 141st Drive in Portland. Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and found smoke coming from the RV. Firefighters forced entry to check for any victims and to extinguish any fire. Law enforcement observed a storage compartment located in the rear outer quarter panel of the RV that appeared to be blown apart by a possible explosive device. T

NEBRASKA MAN DIES IN TRAFFIC CRASH SATURDAY NIGHT

Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - A 53-year-old Bellevue, Nebraska man died in a roll-over vehicle crash on Saturday night west of Roseburg.  At 7:50 pm, on Saturday, March 6, 2021, dispatchers began receiving reports of a single vehicle rollover crash on Garden Valley Road near Melrose Road. Bystanders began life saving efforts until emergency services arrived on scene.  Deputies located a 1998 green Ford F-150 pickup which had rolled several times. Witnesses reported the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed while attempting to make a sharp correction before losing control.  The driver, later identified as 53-year-old Dennis M. Dandridge of Bellevue, Nebraska, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Dandridge was the only occupant in the vehicle.  Speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors to the crash. Next of kin has been notified. SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE ON OAK SHORE LANE; TIPS SOUGHT

Sheriff's Office At 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, Clackamas County Sheriff ’ s Office deputies responded to a report of a deceased adult male at a single-family residence on the 1700 block of Oak Shore Lane. Deputies arrived at the residence. The deceased -- identified as  Jimmy Alan Pearson , 63, of Milwaukie -- had lived alone at the house. One of the man's employees found the body when the employee went to the residence to check on Pearson after he hadn't been seen at work. Deputies investigated and found the death scene to be suspicious. A Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner and Sheriff ’ s Office  detectives  responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Crime Scene Investigators (CSI)  also responded to document the scene and collect evidence. CALIFORNIA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DISTRIBUTION OF METHAMPHETAMINE

  U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A Coachella, California man pleaded guilty today to transporting five pounds of methamphetamine from Coachella to Aumsville, Oregon, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Scott Erik Asphaug. Gerardo Figueroa-Felix, 36, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of methamphetamine. According to court documents, on January 7, 2019, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call that squatters had returned to a foreclosed property in Aumsville and that there was methamphetamine inside the house. Deputies had locked the property four days prior in response to a court order. Two deputies approached the house together and spotted a white Chevrolet pickup truck with a California license plate backed into the driveway.   Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 03-07-2021, RADE detectives with the assistance of Grants Pass Department of Public Safety K9 Match and Oregon State Police Troopers, stopped a gray Volkswagen SUV on I-5 near milepost 86. Detectives had been conducting surveillance and investigating the driver, Jonathon James Lawson and passenger, Jesus Rubio, for narcotics trafficking. Detectives developed probable cause to stop Lawson, Rubio and the vehicle and after K9 Match alerted on the vehicle, Lawson and Rubio were detained. Located during the search was over 11 pounds of methamphetamine, over 10,000 suspected Fentanyl laced Oxycodone pills (M30's), 2 firearms, 2 bullet proof vests (body armor), scales, packaging material, and cash. Both Lawson and Rubio are convicted felons and they were taken into custody and lodged a the Josephine County Jail for Delivery/Possession of methamphetamine and Oxycodone. FATAL SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH

  Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On March 6, 2021, at approximately 1:25 AM, 911 dispatchers received a call of a single motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle under a semi-trailer in the 2200 block of NE Industry Drive.  Police Officers and Firefighters from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, along with AMR personnel and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the location.   Upon arrival, the crashed vehicle was located under the front of the parked semi-trailer and the single occupant driver, a 58 year old male resident of Grants Pass, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The investigation is ongoing and all names are being withheld until next of kin have been notified. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to call the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety’s Detective Division at 541-450-6260. 

FISHERMAN DIES AFTER FALLING OVERBOARD IN WILLAMETTE RIVER

Sheriff's Office On Saturday, March 6, 2021, at approximately 6:19 p.m., the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man and a dog who had fallen overboard from a small fishing boat in the Swan Island Lagoon, an inlet of the Willamette River. Marine deputies responded, as did Portland Fire & Rescue, who dispatched several land units and a rescue boat to aid in the search. At approximately 6:45 p.m., the missing man was located. He was pronounced deceased on scene. The dog was located on shore and taken to an animal hospital for evaluation. The man's identity is being withheld until next of kin notifications are made.

William Bailey Just after 7:00pm this evening, a community member found Darrell Love in the forested area to the east of Darlene Way, near La Pine.  Love was evaluated by La Pine Fire for cold exposure, then reunited with family. The Sheriff's Office greatly appreciates everyone that called in tips and assisted with locating Mr. Love today . On 03/06/21, at about 9:40am, John Love contacted 9-1-1 Dispatch to report his son, Darrell Ray Love, as missing.  John and Darrell live in separate trailers near one another on BLM land, near Darlene Rd and Forest Service Rd 2205, in La Pine, OR.  John last saw Darrell on 03/05/21, at approximately 4:00pm, as Darrell was walking from John's trailer back to his own trailer.  John described Darrell as a white male adult, 6' tall, about 180 lbs, short brownish-gray hair and beard, with blue eyes.  Darrell was last seen wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray tennis

SUSPECTED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE DAMAGES RV IN ARGAY TERRACE NEIGHBORHOOD

  Portland Police Bureau Portland Police Arson Unit is investigating a possible explosive device detonation that caused damage to a recreational vehicle in the Argay Terrace Neighborhood. On Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 8:41a.m. Portland Police were dispatched to assist Portland Fire and Rescue on a report of a trailer on fire in the 3800 block of Northeast 141st Drive. When they arrived they found smoke coming from a RV parked there (photo). Firefighters found smoke but no fire, and determined that no one had been injured. An initial investigation indicated that an explosion had happened outside the RV, and that it was suspicious in nature. It was believed to be an explosive device. It's unknown if the RV was occupied at the time. Portland Police and Portland Fire Arson Investigators are requesting information from the public about this incident, and any other recent explosions in the neighborhood. AMBULANCE STRUCK BY DUII DRIVER, 3 INJURED

  Portland Police Bureau Two paramedics and an impaired driver went to the hospital with injuries after a serious crash. On Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 12:42a.m., East and Central Precinct officers responded to an emergency signal from an American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance at East Burnside Street and Northeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard. Officers arrived and found the ambulance had been involved in a crash (photo). The driver and passenger paramedics were conscious but hurt. They were transported by ambulances to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of a 2008 Subaru Legacy Outback sedan was pinned in the vehicle and unconscious. Portland Fire and Rescue extricated the driver and he was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Officers conducted an investigation and determined the ambulance was driving eastbound on East Burnside Street when it was struck by the northbound Subaru. DETECTIVES ARREST RIDDLE MAN ON SEX ABUSE CHARGES

Sheriff's Office RIDDLE, Ore.  - A Riddle man is in custody on sex abuse charges following an investigation by Detectives.  On Friday, August 28, 2020, deputies took a report of sexual abuse. Detectives took over the investigation and on March 4, 2021, the suspect, 40 year-old Joseph Clayton Harp of Riddle, was arrested. He was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:  Rape 1 Incest Sex Abuse 1 The victim was known to Harp. 

Homicide Suspect In Custody After Pursuit

  Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On March 4, 2021, at 8:02 p.m., Beaverton Police Officers saw a vehicle associated with 35-year-old Herbert Rabago near SW 149th Avenue and SW Farmington Road. Beaverton Police Officers knew Mr. Rabago had an active arrest warrant for the murder of Jeremy Lee Covey. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, and a pursuit ensued throughout Beaverton and came to an end near the Beaverton Central Max Station, where Mr. Rabago ran on foot. Officers apprehended Mr. Rabago shortly after. No one was injured during the incident.   Mr. Rabago was lodged in the Washington County Jail on his outstanding warrant.

FIREFIGHTERS CONTAIN MOTORHOME BLAZE IN SPRINGFIELD

  Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, Oregon.  Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a fully involved motor home fire in east Springfield on Thursday evening.  Arriving crews were able to stop the fire spread and contain it to the motorhome.  The resident escaped the fire unharmed, but one pet is unaccounted for at this time.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

MCMINNVILLE MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE CHARGES

  McMinnville Police Dept. In January 2020, McMinnville Police Department patrol officers responded to a residence in the city regarding a 33 year-old adult male inappropriately touching a girl under 10 years of age.  The caller notified police that they had received a call from the child’s mother, asking for suggestions on what to do after the child disclosed inappropriate touching by Erick Munoz-Diaz, a resident of McMinnville.  The case was transferred to the McMinnville Police Department Detective Section for further investigation.   The child was seen at Juliette’s House, a local child abuse assessment center, and disclosed multiple events where Munoz-Diaz had sexually abused her.  Shortly after the Juliette’s House assessment took place, Munoz-Diaz left Yamhill County and began working in Marion County under a fictitious name.  With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, Munoz-Diaz was located, taken into custody on April 23, 2020, and lodged at the Yamhill County Jail.  Muno

LINCOLN CITY FELON SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR DRUG AND GUN OFFENSES

AIRPLANE CRASH IN SISTERS

Sheriff's Office On 3/3/21 at 5:43 p.m., Deschutes County 911 received a report of an airplane crash into a field south of East Sun Ranch Drive, west of Camp Polk Road within the city of Sisters.   Deputies from the city of Sisters arrived at 5:45 p.m.    Deputies determined there were two occupants in the plane at the time of the crash.  The pilot, Madison Stieber, received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by private vehicle to St. Charles-Bend.  The passenger, Connor Schaab, received minor injuries and was evaluated by medics from the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District at the scene.  Schaab was not transported to the hospital.  Both Stieber and Schaab had self extricated from the plane, prior to the arrival of Deputies and medics.    The initial investigation determined Stieber was attempting to land at the Sisters Eagle Airport (15820 Barclay Drive in Sisters), when she made contact with the landing strip and then went airborne a

BURGLARY SUSPECT ARRESTED

Sheriff's Office On March 2nd at 2:45 am the Lane County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 84000 block of Territorial Highway when residents reported an unknown male suspect had broken into their house and entered their bedroom.  A male resident armed himself with a handgun and chased the suspect out of the house.  A short time later while the male resident was on the phone with 911, he observed the suspect return towards his house.  The homeowner warned him not to come closer and to stop or he would be shot.   The suspect eventually left in a silver colored sedan.  The involved residence is in rural Lane County about 7 miles south of Veneta.     Responding deputies located the involved vehicle on Highway 126 near Lakeside Drive and detained 37 year old Jason Lackey.  During the investigation it was determined the homeowner had discharged a firearm as a warning shot away from Lackey, who was advancing on him at the time.   Jason Lackey was lodged at the Lane County

SEARCH WARRANT, ARRESTS MADE IN MULTIPLE BURGLARY CASES

Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  - Several thousand dollars in stolen property was recovered by deputies on Thursday during the execution of a search warrant and a subsequent investigation.     Deputies began receiving reports of stolen property from businesses and residences in southern Douglas County.    Deputies developed a case which lead to the application and issuance of a search warrant for a residence in the 200 block of Alameda.    On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., deputies served the warrant. As a result of the warrant and investigation Douglas Lanier, Gabriel Goodwin, Brian Garrison, Charlene Stevers, Kelle Evans were taken into custody and charged with crimes relating to the investigation.   Deputies also located evidence of the crimes and stolen property from several businesses including Seven Feathers, Les Schwab, South Umpqua School District, Cullett’s Towing as well as several local residents.   Deputies followed up on

SHERIFF'S OFFICE SEEKS ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT

Sheriff's Office On Saturday, February 27, 2021, at around 7:35 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Kaady Car Wash near the intersection of SW Canyon Road and SW 102nd Avenue in unincorporated Washington County, near Beaverton. An employee told deputies he had been robbed by an unknown male suspect who was armed with a gun. The suspect demanded money from the victim before leaving the location. Surveillance video shows the suspect being approximately 5’10” tall with a skinny build. He was wearing a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt, tan cargo pants, tan military-style boots, and a black military-style gas mask with filters attached. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. ARSON AND BURGLARY SUSPECT APPREHENDED

  Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On February 28th, 2021 at about 1905 Hours, The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) 911 agency began fielding calls of a male subject lighting the gas pumps on fire at the Pacific Pride, located at 505 Rogue River Hwy. At approximately the same time, an alarm call came in at 85 Fruitdale Dr., which is the Industrial Source Welding Supply and in close proximity to the gas pumps. GPDPS Police and Fire/Rescue units responded to each scene. Dispatch began to provide updates from callers, of a male subject who was responsible for both the fire at Pacific Pride and what was determined to be a burglary at the welding supply. This male subject had used a gas pump to spray fuel into the air and directly onto the pumps. The gas pump had been taken from a citizen's vehicle who had been filling her tank. MYRTLE CREEK MAN DIES IN VEHICLE CRASH SATURDAY

Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - A Myrtle Creek man died in a single vehicle crash Saturday night.  On Saturday, February 27, 2021, at approximately 11:25 p.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of a single vehicle crash in the 3000-block of Buckhorn Road. Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup which had left the roadway and rolled. The driver, identified as 30 year-old Brandon Martin of Myrtle Creek, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the pickup. Alcohol and speed are believed to be a contributing factors to the crash.  Next of kin has been notified. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Douglas County Fire District #2.

DEPUTIES MAKE ARREST IN LARGE SCALE FRAUD CASE

Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  - On Friday, February 26, 2021, Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office served search warrants in Elkton and Cottage Grove, Oregon, in regard to a five-month long investigation into a fraudulent non-profit organization ran by an individual using the alias of “John P Hope.” During the course of the investigation, “Hope” was identified as 40 year-old Tyrone Curtis Powell. Powell was arrested during the execution of the search warrants. In the later months of 2020, deputies began an investigation into the suspected fraudulent transaction of privately-owned property to a foundation called the “Impossible Roads Foundation,” which was ran by Powell. The victim in the transaction was elderly and under the impression the foundation was a legitimate non-profit organization that built tiny-homes for disabled veterans. The victim originally had agreed to donate approximately 3 acres to the foundation, believing it was legitimate,
