Fatal Crash on Interstate 5 - Jackson County

Oregon State Police  On Thursday June 18, 2020 at approximately 9:40 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 24.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2018 Volvo Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 when for unknown reasons the CMV veered onto the shoulder, struck a guardrail, and came to rest in a small creek. The operator of the CMV sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. The name will be released after next of kin notification has been made.  The unnamed creek accesses Bear Creek which is a tributary of the Rogue River.  An estimated 50-75 gallons of diesel spilled into the creek system. Emergency crews are currently recovering the CMV and containing the spill. Oregon State Police was assisted on scene by ODOT, Phoenix Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, and Medford Fire and Rescue.  

Multi-Agency Wildland Fire Training on Reservoir Hill -- 6-18-20

Roseburg Fire Dept. The City of Roseburg Fire Department, in conjunction with the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Douglas County Fire District #2, will be actively engaging in wildland fire training exercises on Reservoir Hill on June 22, 24, and 26, 2020.  During the training exercises, two specific portions of the hill will be used for training to include live burning that will occur twice per day.  The training locations are designed to stay on City owned property.  Training will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. each day.  The training objectives will include refresher training on wildland firefighting tactics in conjunction with local fire agencies, continued training on command and control procedures for multi-unit incident response, and eliminating fuels in an effort to minimize the threat of an uncontrolled burn in the area.  This training opportunity provides the ability to not only train together, but also to improve the effectiveness of interoperability betwe

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office 20-11346 BURGLARY/THEFT On 06/16/20 at approximately 1015 hours Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an interrupted burglary in progress at a hemp storage facility on East Evans Creek Road outside of Rogue River, Oregon. Employees at the facility found two white male adults dressed in camouflage clothing attempting to steal totes containing processed hemp. The suspects fled on foot into nearby woods. A possible suspect vehicle was left behind at the scene. One of the suspects has been identified as Padyn Daniel Dineen (DOB: 10/19/89). Dineen currently has an outstanding felony warrant for First Degree Burglary. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are continuing the investigation. ATV riders locate a deceased male east of Bend

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On 6/14/20 at 12:32 p.m., deputies from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a deceased male, who had been located by ATV riders.  This location was approximately one mile north of Hwy 20 near milepost 28.   Deputies arrived on scene and began conducting a death investigation.   Detectives and a Deputy Medical Examiner from the Deschutes County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived on scene to assist in the investigation.  The male was later identified as John Eric Sims, age 36, of Portland, Oregon. The investigation determined Sims had come to visit Central Oregon and his destination was the Pine Mountain Observatory.  Sims drove to an area above the Pine Mountain U.S. Forest Service Campground and parked his 2008 Subaru Forester.  It is believed Sims left his vehicle riding his mountain bike and at some point became separated from his bike.  Sims appeared to have walked for several miles until he collapsed at the location where

Gresham Police Investigate Armed Robbery

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore. – On Friday, June 5 at 9:31 p.m., Gresham Police responded to a report of a robbery involving a gun at Kaleafa Cannabis Dispensary, 1450 SE Orient Dr.  An employee was robbed of several jars of marijuana by a male suspect who displayed a small frame semi-automatic pistol.     The unidentified suspect is only described as a white male, medium height with a slim build.  He was wearing all dark clothing and had his face covered with a black face mask. The employee was not physically harmed. The investigation is ongoing. UPDATE: BODY LOCATED ON TILLER TRAIL HIGHWAY, DETECTIVES SEEK INFORMATION

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office MILO, Ore.  - Detectives have identified and are releasing the name of the deceased individual found alongside Tiller Trail Highway in mid-May.  22-year-old Eduardo Garcia Castellnos, a resident of Mexico, was found deceased in the 15000-block of Tiller Trail Highway on Monday, May 18, 2020.  The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating his death. Detectives say Castellnos' family in Mexico has been notified of his death and are working with officials.  Detectives believe his body was placed alongside Tiller Trail Highway, but the cause and manner of his death are still under investigation. Roseburg Man Arrested After Menacing Girlfriend with Firearm

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore. - A Roseburg man was arrested Sunday after menacing his girlfriend with a firearm.  Shortly after 12:00 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2020, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call from a female stating her boyfriend was brandishing a firearm and threatening to kill her. Deputies were able to get the female to walk out of the house to a safe location where they interviewed her. Deputies learned 55-year-old Shayne Randall Dudley of Roseburg had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend and later retrieved a firearm, which caused her to fear for her safety.  Deputies contacted Dudley by telephone. He cooperated with law enforcement and walked down the road to deputies where he was taken into custody and later recovered the firearm mentioned in the incident.  He was lodged in the Douglas County Jail for Menacing.

Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team  On Sunday evening, June 14th, 2020, at approximately 11:15 PM, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) arrested a 34 year old man from Harbor City, California in relation to a large scale drug investigation.   DINT has been conducting an ongoing investigation into the activities of Wesley Gutierrez, who does not live in this area, but has been traveling to Roseburg in recent weeks.  Detectives contacted Gutierrez in the 300 block of West Harvard Avenue in Roseburg.  Detectives executed a search warrant that revealed a little more than 8 pounds of methamphetamine.   Gutierrez was arrested and lodged at the Douglas County Jail.  He is currently charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.  The investigation is ongoing and more charges are likely.   8 pounds is an extremely large amount of methamphetamine.  The average user only uses approximately 1 gram.  DINT seized ov

Fatal Crash on Hwy 20E - Deschutes County

Oregon State Police  On Saturday, June 14, 2020 at approximately 2:42 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 20E at the intersection of Powell Butte Hwy.  Preliminary investigation revealed a white Jeep Grand Cherokee,  operated by Richie Masters (34) of Bend, was  eastbound on Hwy 20E waiting to turn northbound onto Powell Butte Hwy.  A Ford Econoline van, operated by Edward Robinson (59) of Bend, was eastbound on Hwy 20E also intending to turn northbound onto Powell Butte Hwy and hit the Jeep Cherokee from behind. Robinson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Oregon State Police  On Saturday, June 13, 2020 at approximately 7:24 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded a two vehicle collision on Hwy 101 near milepost 208. Preliminary Investigation indicated that a Volkswagen Rabbit, operated by Stevie Shuey (29) of Pleasanton, CA.  was northbound and crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Hyundai Genesis operated by Michael Lindsay (69) of North Bend. Shuey was transported by Life Flight to the hospital. Lindsay sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Eugene Springfield Fire Saves Cats From House Fire

Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene Springfield Fire responded to an early morning house fire on the 1800 block of Todd Street in Eugene.  Crews arrived to find heavy fire in the front of the home with the occupants safely outside reporting five missing cats.  Search crews found the five cats alive, one needing some help and crews administered oxygen to revive the cat.  There were no injuries to citizens or firefighters and the house suffered moderate fire and extensive smoke damage.

Detectives Investigating Human Remains Found in Northeast Salem **Update**

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office Detectives from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the human remains discovered beneath a duplex in northeast Salem on June 10th, 2020.  An autopsy was conducted on Friday afternoon at the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office where the manner of death was determined to be homicide.  Investigators are still working to identify the victim who is believed to have been deceased for multiple weeks.  Investigators are asking community members who may have information about the identity of the victim or the investigation to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Oregon State Police  On Friday, June 12, 2020 at approximately 3:30 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a three vehicle collision on Hwy 97 near milepost 118. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Malibu, operated by Ann Marie Brock (59) of Redmond, was northbound on Hwy 97 preparing to turn left into a driveway.  The Malibu was struck from behind by a Nissan Rogue operated by James Rooks (73) of Crooked River Ranch.  The impact pushed the Malibu into the southbound lane and into the path of Toyota Highlander operated by Stephanie Bates (31) of Forest Grove. Brock sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. James Rooks and his passenger in the Nissan Rogue, Jacquelyn Rooks (76), were transported to Redmond St. Charles Medical Center with serious injuries. Man Stabbed in Green Friday Night Following Disturbance

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   ROSEBURG, Ore.  - A Winston man who was stabbed during a disturbance on Friday evening in the Green District is in stable condition. 911 dispatchers received a report of a stabbing at a business located in the 4600-block of Carnes Road in Green around 7:20 pm. When law enforcement arrived on scene, they found 40-year-old Joseph Sanchez of Winston suffering from a stab wound to the lower abdomen. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center where he was later transferred to an undisclosed hospital. He is currently in stable condition. Deputies learned the man was stabbed by 57 year-old Harry Thomas of Roseburg following a disturbance that turned physical centering around COVID-19 and politics. Thomas is cooperating with law enforcement. LaPine man Cited for Interfering with Fire Department

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office   On June 13, 2020 at approximately 1:09 a.m., Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a structural fire at High Lakes Towing and Recovery located at 15770 Burgess Rd in La Pine. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered the west half of the shop at High Lakes Towing was fully engulfed with flames extending through the roof. Several vehicles near the shop along with a 5th Wheel RV were also engulfed in flames. Nearby residents were quickly evacuated for their safety. Eddie Newingham who is an employee of High Lakes Towing, was refusing to leave the burning structure due to his concerns over a missing cat. Firefighting efforts to save the burning building were temporarily halted due to Newingham repeatedly exiting and re-entered the building while looking for his cat.   Newingham exhibited an aggressive and confrontational demeanor towards law enforcement during their attempts to gain his cooperation.  Newingham was ordered to leave t

Suspected Drunk Driver Eludes Deputies, Harms Self Following Crash

Sheriff's Office On Thursday, June 11, 2020, at 8:54 p.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to reports of a suspected drunk driver near SW 184th Avenue and SW Blanton Street in the community of Aloha. After observing the driver swerving through the streets, nearly hitting a few parked cars along the side of the road, the deputy attempted to stop the car. The driver of a silver Toyota Corolla initially pulled over, but then decided to take off before contacting the deputy. During a short pursuit, the driver was observed speeding down SW Farmington Road, failing to slow down or stop for stop signs and red lights. At one point, the driver crashed the car into a ditch while attempting to turn onto SW Rosa Road, but then backed up and continued to drive away. For safety reasons, the pursuit was terminated, but a short time later, deputies observed the suspect’s car crashed into a parked car near SW Rosa Road and SW 195th Avenue. Upon arrivi

When deputies assigned to the East Salem Service District went to investigate they discovered human remains underneath the duplex. The remains appear to be that of an unknown age male. Detectives from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene and have taken over the investigation.  Investigators are working to identify the deceased. At this time the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, June 12th. 2016 CASE OF SKELETAL HUMAN REMAINS IDENTIFIED

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office GARDINER, Ore.  - Skeletal human remains found in October 2016 near Gardiner have been positively identified through DNA science. On Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 6:20 pm, while fishing, a subject's boat broke down on the Umpqua River in the area of the former International Paper Mill. The fisherman was able to get his boat to shore. While gathering wood for a fire, the fisherman found what he believed to be human bones along the riverbank. In November 2016, the Sheriff's Office released the preliminary findings of an examination of the remains by Oregon State Medical Examiner Forensic Anthropologist, Dr. Nici Vance. Dr. Vance determined the remains to be that of a Caucasian female, likely between the ages of 30 to 55 at the time of her death. Police Need Help Locating Man Who Attempted To Shoot Friend Of Girlfriend and Goes On Rampage of Threats and Violence

Junction City Police On Tuesday June 9th, 2020 at approximately 12:46 am, the Junction City Police Department received a report of a shooting at a Junction City Residence.  The caller reported that someone had fired a bullet into the front of their house.  The complainant stated that minutes after she got out of her shower a bullet ripped through one wall, partially penetrated another wall, and the remaining bullet fragments ricocheted around the edge of the tub coming to rest near the drain.  Responding officers canvassed the area but were unsuccessful in locating the responsible party. Our data center provider where a lot of our master and relay servers are hosted is experiencing connectivity problems - which is causing close to a systemwide outage on Broadcastify right now. I'm going to see how long it takes for recovery before putting plans in action to fail over to other provides. Stay tuned for updates here. Thanks for your patience and sorry for the problems. UPDATE 6:16 PM CT : We are in the dark right now with IBM (Softlayer) - their status pages are also down. We are beginning to unpack our contingency guidebook to fail over the complete audio system to another provider.   We'll wait for now to determine if we get a status before embarking upon that journey. UPDATE 6:06 PM CT : This is a major outage at the data center affecting multiple customers. We have trouble tickets opened with Softlayer and are awaiting a response. Currently all feeds are down since all connectivity to the Dallas softlayer data center has been lost. Still no ETA. UPDATE 5:40

UPDATE: MAJOR CRIMES TEAM ACTIVATED

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office SUTHERLIN, Ore.  - Investigators have released additional details in the shooting which took place on Saturday at the Sutherlin Relax Inn Detectives say that 39 year-old Roseburg resident Nicholas Jermaine Holloway went to the Relax Inn and confronted his estranged wife, 34 year-old Carolina Montano Barragan, also of Roseburg.  Holloway opened fire on Barragan with a handgun, striking her multiple times. Holloway then turned the gun on himself in the parking lot of the motel.  Upon the arrival of emergency responders, Barragan was alive and transported to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment. She is currently in stable condition and is expected to survive. Holloway was declared deceased at the scene.  The investigation is being lead by the Sutherlin Police Department who is being assisted by the Douglas County Major Crimes Team. Homicide Investigation

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 06/07/20 at approximately 11:56pm, Dispatch received a call for a collapsed male at the Best Way Inn which is located at 1253 NE 6th Street in Grants Pass.  When AMR personnel arrived, they located a man who was recently stabbed.  Grants Pass Police and Fire Rescue personnel immediately responded, rendered aid and secured the crime scene.  Prior to police and medical arrival, it was determined that two men left the room.  The male victim, later identified as Victor Barragan-Cruz (35) of Salem Oregon, was rushed to Three Rivers Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.   Grants Pass Major Crime Detectives responded and took over the investigation while Patrol officers began checking the area for the two outstanding men who fled from the room.  Both men were later detained and interviewed at length about the stabbing. Troopers Seize 28.8 lbs of meth and 5.4 pounds of heroin- Jackson County

Oregon State Police  On Friday, June 5, 2020, at approximately 9:18 P.M., a Trooper from the Central Point Area Command stopped a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu for exceeding the speed limit on Interstate 5 near milepost 33 northbound.  During the traffic stop, the Trooper noticed signs of criminal activity and a consent search was conducted.  The search of the vehicle revealed approximately 28.8 pounds of methamphetamine and approximately 5.4 pounds of heroin concealed in natural voids of the vehicle’s rear fenders. The driver was identified as Julian Pineda Casillas (36) from Victorville, California.  Mr. Casillas was lodged at the Jackson County Jail for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of Methamphetamine and Heroin.

Fatal Crash on Interstate 5 - Linn County

Oregon State Police  On Saturday, June 6, 2020 at approximately 5:40 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a crash on Interstate 5 southbound near milepost 234. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2001 black SAAB, operated by Robert Williamson (43) of Boise, ID. was traveling southbound, in the right lane, when it left the road and went down an embankment. Williamson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. OSP was assisted by Albany Fire and Rescue and ODOT. 

Houseless Male Assaulted During Demonstrations

Portland Police Bureau In the evening hours of May 30, 2020, near the 200 Block of Northwest Everett Street, a victim who is believed to be suffering from houselessness was assaulted by a subject during the nightly demonstrations. The incident was reported to the Portland Police Bureau by various partners who work with the unsheltered community. The subject is described as a white male wearing a black hoodie with a red bandana face covering (photo). Another subject, who is believed to have intervened in the altercation, is described as a white male wearing a blue sweatshirt (photo). Felon Arrested for Attempted Assault with Rifle

Medford Police Dept. On June 5th, 2020, at about 9:12 p.m., officers were dispatched to an address in the 3000 block of Adams Circle for a male who had been making threats to kill family members and any responding officers. He was not believed to have access to weapons, however he is a convicted felon from a prior conviction for Conspiracy to Commit Murder.   When officers arrived, they took a tactical approach in the case the suspect was in fact armed. An officer spotted the suspect lying in a prone position in the bushes in the backyard, wearing body armor, and armed with a rifle. The suspect was facing away from the officer. The officer ordered the suspect to drop the gun. The suspect briefly did, and then threw three smoke grenades towards the officers, obscuring their view. The officers were able to retreat to a safer location but remained in close proximity.  While the smoke concealed his exact location, officers could hear the suspect cycling the rifle. Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   SUTHERLIN, Ore . – A major crimes investigation is underway in Sutherlin this afternoon. On Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 1:42 PM, 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of a shooting which had taken place at the Relax Inn (1386 W. Central Avenue). Sutherlin Police Officers arrived on scene and located one male deceased in the parking lot and a female suffering from gunshot wounds. The female was transported to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of her injuries. The deceased male has been identified as the subject who fired on the female before turning the gun on himself. The Douglas County Major Crimes Team has been activated and is conducting an investigation into the incident. The Major Crimes Team consists of investigators from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and Roseburg Police Department as well as prosecutors from the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. Junction City Police On Friday June 5th at about 8:13 PM alert citizens in the N/W area of Junction City reported a suspicious male subject had taken off running when challenged by local residents.  The subject ran into fields to the west of the homes to escape identification.  Multiple officers responded and ultimately located the subject approximately four blocks east of the area of the original sighting.  Subsequent investigation revealed the subject had not only trespassed on private property but had also stolen at least one item delivered to an area-home from Amazon.  Further research found the subject had unlawfully entered the backyard of a Harrisburg residence and attempted to break into several utility-type landscape storage sheds earlier in the day. The subject, identified as 27-year old Andrew Michael Anthony Everton of Beaverton, stated he was employed by Croach Pest Control as a door to door salesman and was wearing a uniform shirt, jacket, and hat bearing the Croach

A WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE JAIL DEPUTY HAS BEEN INDICTED ON CHARGES OF OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT STEMMING FROM A 2018 INCIDENT

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office In March 2018, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation on a concerning use of force incident in the jail. Jail Deputy Rian Alden, employed since 2007, used force on an arrestee during booking. The incident was flagged for additional review by a supervisor, and subsequently, the Sheriff’s Office requested an outside agency conduct the investigation. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police investigated the incident and forwarded their conclusions to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office. At that time, the District Attorney’s Office lacked sufficient evidence to prosecute Rian Alden and did not proceed with charges. On May 31, 2020, the Sheriff’s Office received a concerning email alleging Rian Alden engaged in online communication, which contained racial epithets in December 2003. Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 06/03/2020, 27-year-old Justin Concha contacted a male juvenile via a social media platform.  While speaking with the juvenile, Concha planned to meet with him in order to have sexual contact with the juvenile.   Detectives with the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety contacted and detained Concha; he was later lodged in the Josephine County Jail for Online Corruption of a Child in the First Degree, Luring a Minor, Tampering with Evidence and Encouraging Child Sex Abuse (10 counts).  This investigation is on-going and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact GPDPS at 541-450-6260.

TROOPER SEIZE OVER 16 POUNDS OF HEROIN- JACKSON COUNTY

Oregon State Police On June 2, 2020, at approximately 9:58 A.M., a Trooper from the Central Point Area Command stopped a 2014 Nissan Sentra for Unlawful Lane Change and Failure to Drive with Lane, on Interstate 5 near milepost 36 northbound. The Trooper noticed signs of criminal activity and a consent search of the vehicle was conducted. The search of the vehicle revealed approximately 16.3 pounds of suspected heroin concealed in the gas tank of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Victor Aguilar (33) from Outlook, Washington. Mr. Aguilar was lodged at the Jackson County Jail for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of Heroin. The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Medford Office.
